This type of physician works with children and adolescents to diagnose and treat any disorder relating to the field of psychiatry. A child/ adolescent psychiatrist examines the physical condition of a patient, the genetic makeup of a patient, the development of a patient, the emotional state of a patient, the environmental state, and other social components of a patient’s life. After observing the life and present state of a patient, this type of physician then forms a treatment plan to apply to the patient’s life and style of living. Therapy is a treatment used by this type of physician. These physicians work in a variety of settings. These settings include school systems, social agencies, and other community organizations that benefit children.
