Physician - Radiology

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. OKCIC services not only include basic medical care, but also dental, optometry, behavioral health services, fitness, nutrition and other family programs.

This position provides comprehensive diagnostic medical services to patients and families; delivers medical services to all age groups, from birth to end of life, with various health care needs.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare comprehensive interpretive reports of findings.
• Perform or interpret the outcomes of diagnostic imaging procedures, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computer tomography (CT), mammography,ultrasound, or plain radiographs/Xray. .
• Oversees the administration of contrast materials and responds to adverse drug reactions.
• Perform interventional radiographic procedures, including biopsy, myelograms, and arthrograms.
• Document the performance, interpretation, or outcomes of all procedures performed.
• Communicate examination results or diagnostic information to referring physicians, patients, or families.
• Obtain patients' histories from electronic records, patient interviews, dictated reports, or communicating with referring clinicians.
• Review or transmit images and information using picture archiving or communications systems (PACS).
• Confer with medical professionals regarding image-based diagnoses.
• Recognize or treat complications during and after procedures.
• Develop or monitor procedures to ensure adequate quality control of images.
• Provide counseling to radiologic patients to explain the processes, risks, benefits, or alternative treatments.
• Establish or enforce standards for the protection of patients or personnel.
• Develop and monitor protocols to ensure quality control of diagnostic images and procedures.
• Coordinate radiological services with other medical activities.
• Instruct radiologic staff in desired techniques, positions, or projections.
• Participate in continuing education activities to maintain and develop expertise.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, including discussions of areas where the risk of error is high.
• Check and approve the quality of diagnostic images.
• Compare procedures with other procedures, such as computed tomography, ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, plain radiographs, and angiography.
• Establish and enforce radiation protection standards for patients and staff.

• Must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited college or university.
• Successful completion of an ACGME-approved residency in diagnostic radiology is required.  
• Additional Fellowship in Breast Imaging preferred.
• Physicians must have an unrestricted MD or DO license to practice in the State of Oklahoma.
• The radiologist must be board-certified by the American Board of Radiology or have documentation that the physician is in the process of obtaining board certification.  
• Current CPR is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
• Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ALCS) is preferred.
